Northampton County Councils Of Government

Welcome to the website of the Northampton County Councils of Government!

We are a collaboration of municipalities and county government in the County of Northampton, Pennsylvania, home to 287,000 people and 38 municipalities. Our Purpose is:

1. To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and methods of performing various municipal functions.
2. To insure effective communication and coordination among Northampton County government and municipalities.
3. To facilitate agreements and cooperative action among the county and its municipalities for specific projects.
4. To improve the efficiency and service of the joint efforts of all participating municipalities in Northampton County.
5. To provide general and technical aid to member municipalities.
6. To promote beneficial and remedial legislation essential to the advancement of local based public services.
7. To strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication and make joint decisions.
